Recyclus Appoints Senior Battery Engineer for Lithium-ion Batteries

Recyclus Group Ltd ("Recyclus") is delighted to announce that Jonathan Regan has been appointed as Senior Battery Engineer for lithium-ion ("Li-ion") batteries.

With 20 years’ experience in the engineering industry, ranging from military and nuclear to the renewable and hydrogen sector, Jonathan Regan is well-placed to take on the role of Senior Battery Engineer at Recyclus. Jonathan entered the waste sector to specialise in Li-ion battery disassembly and reuse potential, and he will bring this extensive knowledge and expertise to the Recyclus team.

As Senior Battery Engineer for Li-ion batteries, Jonathan will be responsible for developing battery take-back systems for reuse and ensuring that batteries are processed safely at the Recyclus plants. This work covers all types of batteries both industrial and automotive – in varying states, from prototypes to premature end-of-life batteries to fire damaged and dangerous batteries. With a record to date of over 400 batteries disassembled with zero incidents, the battery testing and disassembly methodology that Jonathan has developed is well-practiced and evolved. It will advance Recyclus’ goal of successfully establishing a circular economy for battery metals through safe and sustainable end-of-life battery management and recycling processes.
